edwin on ice skates!

Edwin went ice skating for the first time!  I never would have thought a little two year old could ice skate, but he did really well and it was so much fun.  A huge thank you to our friends, the Millers, for bringing along an extra pair of skates, encouraging me to let Edwin give it a try, and taking photos and a video for me to share.  I see a lot of skating at the neighborhood rink in our future!

Please excuse Edwin's tantrum on the ice...he's pretty independent when he wants to be. ;)

I love being home on the weekends when I can open up the blinds and curtains to let the sunshine in.  It's such a little luxury when I am used to being out the door each morning by 7:00 am.  Speaking of sunshine, I'm beginning to notice a little bit more of it around here.  I have a long weekend ahead and it's supposed to be a bit warmer outside.  We are hoping to get out sledding and Nick and I may even go skiing for the first time in over 3 years!  I am excited, terrified, and mostly just hoping I don't fall on my head a million times.  Wish me luck!

I'll be linking up  again with the 52 project.  I had a ton of fun with my photo this week getting little Edwin to stand by his drawer by hiding raisins in with his socks.  It worked like a charm.

I took Edwin to work with me last weekend to try out his new scooter.  We did laps in the hallway in hopes that with a little practice he'll be ready to cruise outside with it this spring and summer.  He seems to like it and I am thankful to have found another indoor activity to keep this toddler of mine busy while we wait out a few more weeks of this ridiculous winter we are having.  What a welcome relief warmer weather will be.

I had a revelation the other day that I'm sure most mama photographers have probably already figured out - I turned my camera to the "action" setting, making the shutter speed fast enough to capture even the squirmiest of toddlers.  This might just be my saving grace for the 52 project.  I've noticed I can really get sucked in to taking way too many photos, fiddling with my manual settings, or spending countless hours editing if I'm not careful.  These two photos encompass exactly what this challenge needs to be for me.  Easy, adorable, and capturing those little moments in life of playing hide & seek under the dining room table!
