39 weeks

The first snow has fallen and Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means baby is on its way!  The end of my pregnancy is definitely bittersweet.  I've truly enjoyed my pregnancy and know when I look back on it I will miss it a lot (okay, maybe not all of it.)  But, I'll definitely remember it as one of the best times in my life.  It has brought so many happy changes into our lives, I can't even imagine how thrilled we will be to finally meet our new little son or daughter.  I'm starting to get very curious about our little one's gender too!

Although my due date is the 25th, my midwives have told me to plan on being pregnant for 41(or 42) weeks.  It's pretty common for first babies and moms to take awhile, and many women in my family have a tendency to be pregnant a little bit longer than the norm.  So, we'll see what nature has in store for us!  I don't know if there is much else I can do to prepare myself for the changes that are coming without actually experiencing them.  I'm just hoping for a safe and healthy delivery and a somewhat smooth adjustment into motherhood.  I'm not sure what life is going to be like as a mom, but I definitely feel ready to begin my parenting journey.

But, for now, we wait a bit more.  Whenever baby is ready, we'll begin.  And in the mean time I'm going to make some more soup, homemade granola, and think about the especially festive holiday season in store for our soon-to-be family of three!
